In 2008 Emma re-opened the Etching studio Bluecoat and by this point Emma and I were regularly sharing research and problems with the new system of etching.
By 2009 it was evident that both workshops were experiencing similar problems with our acrylic aquatint so a collaboration began.
With funding from UCLan and CADG we bought all the possible products on the market at the time and began testing to find which product or products would full fill the requirements of our busy communal workshops.
The testing of these products is now complete and the original research has now moved onto pushing the preferred aquatints further to find out if we really can master these new products and use them with the same refined skill that the master printmakers use the traditional methods of resin and spit bite.
