Grounding – The Grundy Art Gallery, Blackpool

Delighted to be showing new works at The Grundy Art Gallery.
Grounding is a research and development project that is exploring the slow act of walking, thinking, observing and making. Over the last couple of years I have been walking with Tina Dempsey, remaking familiar journeys together and revisiting landscapes across the Fylde Coast. Bringing our full and embodied attention to moments in time, to each other and to the land, seeking to generate new readings and reveal new understandings of place.
Alongside research findings and new artworks resulting from the process, we have also selected works from the Grundy Art Gallery collection that speak to some of our ideas.
To accompany Grounding, the Grundy is also presenting Upon a Painted Ocean by Hondartza Fraga in the next gallery. Fraga also centres the sea and the wider coastal landscape as a key subject in her work.
Grounding is a Grundy Art Gallery Turning Point project and is part of a series of exhibitions and activities undertaken by the gallery to support the professional development of artists from the local area and the wider region.
