(In)tangible – National Trust Lake District

10 Jun 2026

(In)tangible is a solo exhibition of new works inviting a reconsideration of the overlooked and invisible landscapes of The Lake District. Original drawings, prints and paper works reimagine and celebrate unique micro communities.

In 2023 Kew Gardens produced ‘State of the World’s Plants and Fungi’, in which it stated that ‘expanding our knowledge of fungi is the next frontier of biodiversity science. Mainly because of their covert lifestyles, these enigmatic organisms have long been overlooked by researchers.’

This exhibition specifically considers invisible landscapes and the energy connecting us all. Using lichens and fungi as a focus point to consider notions of collaboration and care between species, new site-responsive artworks promote attention and appreciation for familiar landscapes which are often overlooked and undervalued as essential monitors of climate change.

The exhibition is the final part of the two year programme Women In Print at the historic Allan Bank in Grasmere.
Opening on 7th July, the exhibition runs until 20th December 2026.
